Salma Pir Rasul

Salma Pir T. Rasul is a lawyer by profession, admitted to the practice of law in the Philippines as well in the US states of New York and Maryland. She is currently programs director for the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy. She has been designated as t director for Islamic Law Studies of the University of the Philippines Law Center (UPLC) and previously served as the Programs Development Consultant of the UPLC Institute for the Administration of Justice. She currently lectures for the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) program of the UPLC, and does consulting work for the United Nations Development Project on PVE, shari’ah law and peacebuilding, the UNWomen on the WPS for southeast Asia. She obtained her JD (formerly LLB) in law from the University of the Philippines College of Law and earned her undergraduate degree in business economics from the University of the Philippines School of Economics. She is a member of the National Council of the National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL), a member of the board of trustees of the UP Women Lawyers Circle, and the vice president for legal affairs of the ASEAN Society Philippines.
