Professor, CREE Ecological Reflection and Spirituality Community
Victor Bernardo Rey Riquelme studied philosophy at the University of Concepción, after which he studied theology for four years at the Baptist Theological Seminary. Upon graduation, Professor Rey was ordained a Baptist pastor at La Estrella de Pudahuel Baptist Church in the western part of Santiago. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the Alberto Hurtado Catholic University in Santiago, Chile. He continued his postgraduate studies at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, where he earned a master's degree in social communication. Professor Rey has taught and worked in pastoral care in Chile, Ecuador, and Belgium and has worked with several social development, educational, ecumenical, and theological training organizations, such as Map International, World Vision, Latin American Council of Churches, and Latin American Theological Fraternity. He currently resides in Quito, Ecuador, where he promotes ecumenical rapprochement, interreligious dialogue, nonviolence, environmental advocacy, and integral spirituality. He and his wife, Jenny, have two children.
