Ven. Hyeyou, Director, Hanmaum Science Institute

Venerable Dr. Hyeyou entered monastic life in 2001 with Seon Master Daehaeng as her teacher. Hyeyou is research director of the Hanmaum Academy at Hanmaum Seon Center of Germany. After receiving her master’s degree in education from the University of Dortmund, she obtained her PhD in comparative religion from Rhenish Friedrich Wilhelm University of Bonn. Her main research interests are Seon Master Daehaeng’s teachings, Buddhism in the West, comparative religion, and dialogue between religions. While cultivating her own spiritual practice and managing Hanmaum Seon Center of Germany, she has also worked to engage with religious leaders from other belief systems.
