Salvador Piñeiro García-Calderón, Archbishop of Ayacucho, Roman Catholic Church

Monsignor Salvador Piñeiro studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical and Civil Theology Faculty of Lima, where he obtained a master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in theology. He entered the Major Seminary of Santo Toribio in 1965 and received priestly ordination in 1973. He was the military bishop of Peru from 2001 to 2012 and president of the Episcopal Conference of Peru from 2012 to 2018. In August 2011, he was appointed metropolitan archbishop of the Archdiocese of Ayacucho or Huamanga. He currently serves as president of the Interreligious Council of Peru.
