Nery Rodenas Paredes has completed advanced studies in human rights and military justice in Guatemala and the United States, including courses at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois; the University of San Francisco; and the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He has served as the titular commissioner of the National Commission for Children and Adolescents, a member of the electoral commission of the National Council for the Attention to Persons with Disabilities, and a peace mediator with Intrapaz at Rafael Landívar University. Mr. Rodenas Paredes has also contributed as a columnist for the newspaper La Misión.
