Kemal Erkan is the CEO and founder of United Medical, LLC, and the cofounder of the American Surgery Center. Since 2000, he has been a transformative force in the healthcare sector, particularly in advancing electronic medical records (EMR), accountable care organizations, medical practice administration, and revenue cycle management. Mr. Erkan holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration and political science from Ankara University in Türkiye, and dual MBA degrees in computer information systems and finance from Goldey-Beacom College in Delaware. He has served on the Cerner™ EMR and Practice Management advisory boards and played a pivotal role as an adjunct professor in launching healthcare-focused academic programs at Goldey-Beacom College. Mr. Erkan’s leadership and service have earned widespread acclaim across healthcare, public policy, and global relations. His awards include the Marmara Foundation Appreciation Award (2025); Extraordinary Leader Award (2022)—MGMA; Man of Distinction Award (2022)—YWCA of Delaware; Lifetime Achievement Award (2020); MGMA Rise Above Recognition Award (2020); Outstanding Achievement in Healthcare (2019)—TURKOFAMERICA; Young Society Leader (2018)—American Turkish Society; and Leadership in Philanthropy and Global Affairs. Internationally, Mr. Erkan is a board member and the official United States Representative of the Marmara Foundation, a distinguished nongovernmental organization accredited by the United Nations Economic and Social Council. In this role, he contributes to global discussions on peacebuilding, regional diplomacy, and sustainable development. He is also the cofounder of Friends of Tigray & Türkiye Delaware, a humanitarian initiative supporting victims of the Tigray genocide and survivors of the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye. Mr. Erkan brings his values-driven leadership into the political sphere as a finance committee member for both US Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester and State Senator Sarah McBride.
