Jack served for forty years as a Professor of Law at BYU, as well as being the founder of FARMS and of Scripture Central, and also working for twenty-seven years as the editor in chief of BYU Studies. His wide-ranging scholarship includes publications in both law and religion. Although retired, Jack is still heavily involved in on-going research and publications in the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, Church History, and the Constitution as well as regular podcast appearances. After bachelor’s and master’s degrees from BYU, Jack did graduate work at Oxford before receiving his J.D. from Duke University. He practiced law at O’Melveny & Myres in Los Angeles before coming to Provo. He and Jeannie have four children and 17 grandchildren and are currently in their second assignment as church senior missionaries.
Now retired after many years on the BYU French Faculty where she also was the Director of the Foreign Language Student Residence, Jeannie has been an active sponsor of her local elementary school dual immersion French program. Over the years she has organized many group travels to France and Church History sites and loves exploring new places with Jack. Back home from 20 months teaching as a missionary at BYU Hawaii, she is currently serving as a research missionary for the Joseph Smith biography in addition to lots of time hosting friends and family events. Jeannie and Jack are the parents of four children and seventeen grandchildren.
