Chae Young Kim

Professor, Sogang University

Chae Young Kim is a professor of religious studies at Sogang University in Seoul. He served as president of the Korean Association for Religious Studies from 2014 to 2016. Currently, he participates in a network that builds associations of young scholars of religious studies in East Asia. He also serves as an editorial board member for the international journals Religion and the British Journal of Religious Education. He translated William James’s book The Varieties of Religious Experience: A Study of Human Nature and Ernest Becker’s The Denial of Death into Korean. Professor Chae has also published Korean books and articles dealing with interreligious and intercultural dialogue, psychology of religion, religious education, and contemporary religious experience and human dignity issues in Korea and beyond.
