Alexander Jaimes Medina is a lawyer. He holds the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the Remzion University in Jerusalem, Israel, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Public Administration, Finance, and Justice at the University of Salamanca, in Spain. He has also pursued doctoral studies in Human Rights at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. He earned a master’s degree in administrative law, and is a specialist in Administrative and Constitutional Law. Previously, he served as National Director of Human Rights at the Ministry of the Interior. With over 19 years of experience in the public sector, Medina has held various roles including Coordinator, Chief Legal Advisor, and Director in institutions such as: INVIAS (National Roads Institute), ICBF (Colombian Institute of Family Welfare), Personería de Bogotá (Office of the Ombudsman of Bogotá), Congress of the Republic of Colombia, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of the Interior. He is also a university professor, having taught in Colombia, Spain, and Washington, specializing in disciplinary law, administrative law, constitutional law, and human rights. Medina is a member of the Colombian Institute of Procedural Law and the World Association of Constitutional Justice. He has also served as an alternate judge (Conjuez) at the Superior Court of the Judicial District of San José del Guaviare. Currently, he serves as the Director of Religious Affairs at the Ministry of the Interior, continuing his commitment to public service and the defense of religious freedom.
