David Ángel Torres

David Ángel Torres is a Peruvian attorney with a juris doctor from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, where he also earned his PhD in law and political science. He holds an LLM in comparative law from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, with a focus on property law, contracts, international business transactions, and constitutional law—particularly the First Amendment. He is the founding partner of DTB Abogados, a Lima- based law firm with a strong practice in civil, real estate, corporate, and arbitration law. His professional background includes international legal experience at Kirton McConkie in Salt Lake City and governmental work at the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity in Utah. Mr. Torres has been actively involved in religious freedom research and advocacy as a founding member and past president of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society (JRLCS)–Lima Chapter. Under his leadership, the chapter organized forums on constitutional law and religious liberty in Peru, hosted interfaith panels, and published research on a blog on which Mr. Torres discussed legal frameworks that support religious pluralism. He currently serves as area director for Spanish-speaking South America for JRCLS.
