Audrey Hughes Externship Experience

“I loved my externship in Buenos Aires. As a Spanish major I’ve wanted to travel to South America, and being able to live and work in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires was a dream come true. Some highlights for me include touring the supreme courts, the national legal library, and the national and city congress buildings with local attorneys. I enjoyed learning about the rich culture and history of Argentina from my knowledgeable and generous guides.

I am an aspiring environmental attorney, and so I was thrilled to attend an interfaith event commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the Laudato Si’, an encyclical by Pope Francis about our religious duty to care for the earth. It was fascinating to hear from scientific, religious, and legal leaders about a topic I am so passionate about. I know I am a better person—and hopefully a better law student!—thanks to the friendships I made and the experiences I had in Buenos Aires. I’m so grateful to the center for facilitating this adventure!”
