Title: Jewish leaders: The historical truth is being challenged
Jewish communities in Croatia will boycott this year’s official ceremony commemorating the ending of the Concentration Camp Jasenovac, as a sign of protest against the government’s negligence in changing the permanent exhibition at the Jasenovac site, the Jewish community finds revisionist. Additionally, the Community finds the overall atmosphere of intolerance that is spreading in Croatia unacceptable and deems its participation would only support government’s attempt to satisfy the form only, rather than content at the commemoration. In particular the Jewish leaders have cited examples of soccer match, Croatia vs. Israel where Croatian Nazi collaborators’ chants were hear through the match. Despite the attendance of the prime minister and two other ministers at the match no attempts were taken to do anything about the chants. Similar chats were repeated in the streets of the capital with no proper intervention of the authorities.
