Richard & Nan Hunter

Richard Hunter practiced law in California for 30 years specializing in asset protection, estate planning, and taxation. He is affiliated with the Howard W. Hunter Mormon Studies Council at Claremont College. Richard served as Mission President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auckland, New Zealand and President of the Oakland California Temple. He graduated in accounting from BYU and received his J.D. From Berkeley Law School.

Nan Hunter founded the Almaden Country School, a private non-profit school in San Jose, California.  She has served as a board member to several non-profit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She is the author of the LDS Hymn #154 (“Father, This Hour Has Been One of Joy”) and of The Diary of Howard Hunter, age 10. She has been recognized for her poetry and biographies. Nan graduated from BYU in Zoology.

Nan and Richard have eight children and 36 grandchildren. They had been married for 60 years when Richard died at age 83 on September 9, 2021.  [See his obituary here.]
