(JTA) — A Texas woman suing her employer for pregnancy discrimination said in her complaint that she was subjected to anti-Semitic remarks.
Genna Herson, who is Jewish, alleged that ASD Specialty Healthcare Inc. and Amerisource Bergen Specialty Group, a pharmaceutical distributor where she worked as a sales representative, fired her in 2013 because she was pregnant, the Southeast Texas Record reported.
Herson’s lawsuit, in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas, said that her supervisor included an anti-Semitic remark when he called her a “whistleblower” for reporting incidents to human resources.
Upon announcing that she was pregnant in 2013, Herson was denied a promotion and told she could not use accrued vacation time for her prenatal medical appointments and instead was required to skip her lunch hour. Herson said that she was then terminated for alleged time clock violations related to her lunch hour.
The Southeast Texas Record did not elaborate on the nature of the anti-Semitic remark.
